On October 29th 1992 I was born. Several existential crises and one student visa later, my ever-snowballing sense of nervous dissatisfaction manifested in this blog. I wanted to make up for lost time; for all the time I had wasted, and all the time I was sure to waste in the future.
What started out purely as a motivational tool for myself soon evolved into a commitment to a wider dialogue about the storytelling of everyday life. Instead of helping me find the focus I so desperately craved, my blog became that very focus itself. I wanted to write about the world and my place in it. I wanted to follow every thread of curiosity and weave them together into a singular narrative of my life. There’s no end goal here, and no mission statement other than to write as much as possible, for as long as possible, and to celebrate the small things as much as the big ones.
I’ll write about anything I think worth writing about, but the majority of my posts revolve around a core of four regular features: books, travel, pop culture, and my personal life. Sometimes these features overlap, and I try to take a creative approach to whatever I write. For instance, I never want my bookish posts to feel like English Lit essays, or my movie reviews to feel like journalistic articles. Instead, I’ll try to write about my subjects in a way they aren’t usually discussed. Nothing here is formal, and I ain’t above a little smut either.
To get a little taster of what to expect, here are a few select posts I think best represent what my blog is all about:
For BOOKS, try Five Guys Read Hemingway: My Reading Experiment
For TRAVEL, try The Crescent City Diaries #1
For POP CULTURE, try My Top 10 Movies of the Year – 2018
For PERSONAL STUFF, try Turning 25
